So... I might have mentioned this before, but one of my pet peeves in the Tenipuri fandom is US Open fic that's really inaccurate. Since we're getting close to the end of our canon-future themed round of subrosa_tennis (and since I'm procrasting on my fic for that and for BG XD), it seemed like a good time to put this together. Doubly so, because I got a very late birthday present of tickets to the women's semis, so I even got to take a bunch of pictures to go with. (This guide is unapologetically very picture heavy.) Anyways, yay~

So... not working on fic because I'm lazy like that. XDD For anyone who hasn't seen it, my fifthmus fic went up last week. It was supposed to be about Akiko meeting Mitsuko, but it wound up being more Akiko gen. You can read it here. ^_^

In related news, saw that sign ups just started for the next round of blind_go. I... am torn. On the one hand, Blind Go! I had loads of fun last round. And wonderful new mods and fun themes~! Also, I like having deadlines 'cause they mean that I actually write things. On the other hand, I'm already committed to subrosa_tennis and that last author standing thing for Doctor Who, both of which (assuming I'm still in the latter, which is probably a fault assumption *lol*) should be wrapping up around then. So... thinking about it. Might sign up and then just see how it goes. ::shrug::

Speaking of subrosa_tennis, I've been toying for a bit with making up a writer's guide to the US Open. So often, I've seen it written wrongly in Prince of Tennis fanfic, and as a proud New Yorker it kind of bothers me when people set it in California, or in Manhatten, or whatever. *Especially* because the actual series got the details *so* correct, right down to the airplanes flying from La Guardia in the background. Also, I'm dying to see Prince of Tennis fic where everyone goes to watch a baseball game because Arthur Ashe (where the finals of the Open are played) is right across the street from Shea Stadium. (Mind you, I'm never going to write it and I know it. But I'd love to see it.) I took a bunch of pictures of how to get to and from the stadium when I went to a Mets game earlier this week, and it occurred to me that ( this is probably the reason why Ryoma got lost coming out of the Tokyo subway: )

I'm trying to get tickets to go see at least one day of the Open, in which case I'll definitely do the guide with proper pictures and stuff. Maybe not if I don't, though, 'cause, y'know - directions to stadium only guide is kind of lame.

Anyway, might try and work on fic now. Or maybe to update my lists of recs with all of the stuff I've got bookmarked. *lol* But probably writing. Wish me luck~~!!

Because having that many good genfics for Prince of Tennis all in one place is probably illegal.

Seriously though, everyone's works for this were awesome! My own fic was Goofy Foot for kirayukari, in which Echizen runs into Tezuka at the beach. I rather liked it. I *really* liked this picture of Sanada and Kirihara that sarahofcroydon drew for me. ^___^

And I am absolutely in love with the following fics.

vanillafire's World of Brothercraft - In which Fuji Shuusuke, Fuji Yuuta, and Mizuki all play World of Warcraft together. Because Shuusuke letting Mizuki die as a twisted sort of revenge is one of the greatest plot set-ups I've ever seen.

jain's Playing the Game - Because the world needs more well-written Hikago/Prince of Tennis crossovers. And in large part because of a very very brief Atobe cameo at the end that killed me.

takewing's One Hit KO - Because Sanada + Kirihara + Video Games is about eight bajillion different kinds of love.

And my favourite:

tokyostory's Stop Me If You've Heard This One Bef- oh. - Because I can't decide what I love the most about this piece. Because it convinced me to like Shishido, and because it made me want to hug Atobe and Oshitari. And because it had Voldemort, which just made it full of WIN.

I really almost thought that Prince of Tennis couldn't get any stranger. However... the preview for episode 11 of the OVA? They're apparently denying anime canon to use manga canon and tell that story about Tezuka in Kyuushu. ... what the heck? O_o I'm kinda curious, in an oh-my-god-that's-going-to-be-a-trainwreck sort of way. ^^;;;;

In other news, I'm three pages short of done on one of my papers and have run out of material. I'm so fucked. *_*

Also, I need to stop using "artes" instead of "arts." Clearly, too much Abyss for me.

Oh wow, that last episode was just so much love... seriously, I'm not finding words for how perfect it was. ^.^;;;;;;;;

Also, it's really really wrong that I can't hear the little speech about how the Ouran Host Club is unique without laughing because I think of that Ouran/Tenipuri crossover where they talk about how Hyoutei has one too, only they call it the men's tennis club. Yeah. That was great. ^.^;;;;

And in completely random other parts of life, I have KH fic that needs a beta run but that will be up once it's cleaned up. ^____^ Yay, fic. I swear I'm not dead in terms of fic ~ just having some huge issues with a couple of scenes in different fics. Not quite writer's block, but... interesting. XDD Also, Nanowrimo anyone? I'm debating...

So, the more that I watch Prince of Tennis, the more I want to find my old racket and hit a few balls. Also, the more it reminds me of that saying about how it takes a village to raise a child.
