Remember how I mentioned that the HxH fic was an apology in advance for something totally awful? Yeah. This would be that something awful. Or... well, awful's a bit strong. I'm just not very happy with a bunch of these. I did really like the Ouran one, and the Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge one isn't terrible, but the other three are kind of... sucktastic. AU Week and I didn't agree.

... it's probably a bad thing that comedy week and I are thus far having similar issues. My funny bone apparently needs checking. XDD Anyways, without further delay, here are Ouran, Uta~Kata, Deathnote, xXxholic, and Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge.

Stop the Carriage!
An Ouran Host Club, Tamaki/Haruhi Ficlet

"I am a king in everything when with a wanton gypsy, o."

Tamaki heard the music long before they came into sight. The high pitched crash of the tambourine, a lyrical flute, and the rumbling echo of drums carried past the trees. The sounds were faint at first, but grew louder, louder, until at last they could see across the plains an encampment where people danced and sang.

"Stop the carriage!" he called, and immediately it began to slow, approaching not at a gallop but a trot even as it continued moving.

"My lord, are you sure?" One of the redheads across from him asked, eyes wide as he alternately shared glances with his twin and eyed the gathering they were approaching.

"Not that we dislike danger, my lord –" The other redhead interjected with a droll toss of his head and a wave of his hand.

"Oh, no, we're always up for some excitement –" the first agreed, nodding.

"But if you get us robbed again, we're going to have to kill you." They leaned forward as one, glaring at him.

"It only happened that one time with that lying little beggar girl…" Tamaki said as he drew back, arms coming up defensively in front of him and tried (unsuccessfully) to cower behind Kyouya. The dark-haired man turned to him with a bemused smile and straightened his glasses.

"Actually, to date, you have gotten us robbed…" Kyouya paused and flipped through his notebook a couple of pages, "twenty-seven times."

"Really?" Kaoru asked, blinking. "I could have sworn it was only twenty-six."

"Mmm, me too," Hikaru leaned back in his seat. "Are you losing your touch, Kyouya?"

"The reason you do not remember the twenty-seventh time," Kyouya said, light reflecting off his glasses dangerously, "is probably because you had pre-arranged that trap with the man with the broken leg and managed to retrieve your belongings at a later date. The rest of ours mysteriously vanished, if you'll recall."

"Ah, right," the twins exchanged a smile. Kaoru straightened and continued, "Seriously though, my lord, I'm not sure this is a good idea."

Tamaki, curled in a ball on the seat beside Kyouya, mumbled, "I just thought it would be fun to dance with them for a little while."

Kyouya sighed, and called out, "Stop the carriage!"

"Kyouya! Thank you! You're the best lord any prince could ask for!" Tamaki bounced out of the carriage the moment Mori and Honey drew the horses to a stop, running full tilt across the field. Honey immediately took off after him, hand already hovering over his blade in case it was called for.

"Oi, Kyouya! Is this really such a good idea?" Hikaru asked in a hushed whisper as he and the others climbed down from the carriage and followed at a more sedate rate. "What are you going to tell His Highness if something happens to that idiot?"

"Honey and Mori will keep him safe," Kyouya said. "This particular group of gypsies has a reputation for being exceedingly scrupulous, in large part because of their leader, who is reputed to be kind and generous. She may charge Tamaki an arm and a leg for dancing lessons, but no harm will come to him."

They entered the encampment. Tamaki grinned at them from his place amongst the gypsies. A small woman dressed in a flamboyant red skirt and with pieces of gold tied into her short brown hair danced beside him, demonstrating for him how to beat a tambourine before passing it to him. Tamaki grabbed it eagerly and tried (poorly) to mimic her.

"Is that the only reason, Kyouya?" Kaoru asked as Kyouya smiled back at Tamaki and clapped lightly.

Kyouya snapped his book shut and looked down at the two twins.

"When we arrive, he will marry Lady Éclair immediately," he said, pulling the book close to his chest. "It does no harm to let him have fun once more."

"-if only for the last time, huh?" Hikaru crossed his arms and eyed the crowd dancing around the fire for a moment before nodding to himself. He threw a hand up behind him as he went forward to join them, calling back, "Well, here's hoping he doesn't fall in love and refuse to leave!"

~

"So, how are you going to explain to His Highness that his only son the prince fell in love with a gypsy named Haruhi and has chosen to deny his name rather than marry Lady Éclair?" Hikaru asked two hours later as the carriage began to make its way back to the palace it had so recently left.

A vein throbbed in Kyouya's forehead. He threw the book at the Hitachin brothers and shouted, "Stop the carriage!"

"Kyouya?! Where are you going?" Kaoru called as Kyouya jumped from the carriage and began to head back to the gypsy encampment.

"You two can explain everything. I'm staying with the gypsies," Kyouya replied. He waved at them over his shoulder.

The Hitachin brothers exchanged a look.

"Hang on, turn the carriage around!"

"We're going back to the gypsies too!" they shouted.

His Highness never did find out what exactly happened, but was pleased if a bit perplexed when, some weeks after he expected his son's return from his marriage to Lady Éclair, he was introduced to his new daughter-in-law, Lady Haruhi.

Decisive
An Uta~Kata Ficlet

"Everybody wants to rule the world."

When she asked Sei which he wanted to survive, himself or the world, answering was the easiest thing he had ever done.

The destructive power of the D'jinn had born him up into the sky, raised him above the rest of the world. He had watched as it reached out, ruthlessly short-circuiting every device for miles around. Lives turned off just like a light switch being flicked. He had laughed while he watched, and Kai had laughed with him, laughed at the beauty of nature reaping its revenge upon a world that took it for granted. Took him for granted.

"Which do you choose, yourself or this world," she asked, holding her scarf-turned-scythe in both hands and waiting patiently. He smiled.

"Myself."

Talent
A Deathnote Ficlet

"I drive a Rolls Royce 'cause it's good for my voice."

"Kira's got to be someone who's pretending to be mute!" Matsueda repeated for the hundredth time that session. The members of Yagami Talent Agency collectively shook their heads. "How else could anyone manage to keep people from finding out? His voice is so distinctive!"

"There is another way," said a voice from the door. An unkempt young man with scruffy black hair stood barefoot before them. Director Yagami raised an eyebrow.

"What's that?" He asked. The man wandered in a few steps, leaning back against the door frame.

"He's the shy, quiet type. Only on the outside, of course – he's incredibly arrogant on the inside. The way he only ever posts music online, letting his legend grow while he hides himself away to bask in his own smug sense of superiority demonstrates that quite well," the man said, gnawing idly on his thumbnail.

"And you know this…?"

"Oh, no, I'm not him! You can call me… L." He smiled. "I'm a detective. From what I've figured he's probably working as a secretary somewhere, maybe even -"

A door at the far end of the room opened, allowing Light to slip in quietly. He crossed the room in three quick strides, passing his father an unlabeled manilla folder. Light stopped, and eyed L curiously.

" – maybe even here."

Light smiled.

Introductions
A xXxholic Ficlet

"Though the rain weighs down your wings, still the caged bird's got to sing."

He stood alone in a gazebo, in the middle of a wide field. The boy in the kimono looked about Doumeki's age, with short dark hair and a pair of glasses. As he strode into the field, the boy looked up.

"Why are you here?" The boy asked, his soft voice still carrying easily.

"It's public property," Doumeki said, shrugging. "Why shouldn't I be here?"

"Because no one comes here," the boy said. He smiled. "I can't leave here, but I like it because of that. That's why I stay here, and why you shouldn't be here."

Doumeki walked closer to the young man in the gazebo, offering his hand. "Since I'm here… will you walk with me?"

"It won't – Stop that!"

Doumeki grabbed the boy's hand and pulled him from the gazebo. The boy raised his hands over his head, covering it defensively the moment his feet left the floor of the gazebo and stepped onto the grass. Then, slowly, he lowered them, and looked at Doumeki, his eyes wide.

"You…" He began, then stopped.

"Doumeki Shizuka," Doumeki said, and the boy straightened, and smiled.

"Watanuki Kimihiro. Shall we walk?" He offered his hand, and Doumeki took it with a smile of his own, leading Watanuki away from the gazebo at last.

Working with the System
A Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge, Sunako/Kyouhei Ficlet

"On the screen there's a diagram of you, and the disk where I saved it holds your name. There are those who believe our love's untrue, but I still adore you all the same."

"Any progress yet, Kyouhei?" Takunaga walked in and leaned over the blond's shoulder, staring at the screen as he sipped a cup of coffee.

"None! This stupid system doesn't want to work with me! I keep telling you, we should let Ranmara handle it, or try and have Yuki sweet talk it into working!" Kyouhei said slamming his hands down on the desk and getting to his feet. "I'm not going to work with this ugly system any more."

"Kyouhei!" Takunaga said sharply.

"It's just a system! It's not –"

"Kyouhei, look!" The brown-haired man interrupted, pointing at the screen. Kyouhei spun around to face the dreaded blue screen of death. He rubbed a hand against his forehead and slumped back in the chair. Takunaga glared down at him. "You better fix this quickly."

"Whatever." Kyouhei said. Takunaga left the room. The blond looked at the computer before him and sighed. He began to type – slow, politely phrased requests of commands. "Geez. SUNAKO's such a tempermental program that the free rent almost isn't worth it."

Kyouhei cursed under his breath as the power went out.
