And in other news, if I wasn't playing reversathon games, there might actually be fic soon. Actually, there might be fic anyway. Horizon is cooperating again (six months later XD), and I've got some other ideas that seem to be going in a story - happy direction. Yay! ^_^

I kind of want that too, if only because I've read stuff that seemed to display some inaccuracies (um, hello, infection prophylaxis, sterile technique, fluid replacement, NOBODY EVER MENTIONS THAT :[ Then again that might be limited depending on what supplies and what professionals are actually available. XD) and I wondered what really would go on say with a large stab wound or a mangled limb... something where you don't have the luxuries of clean supplies and EKG monitors. They really didn't teach us much about trauma in school. :[.

Yeah OK, I'll stop being a nerd and be quiet now.

And see, that's why I want it. I don't want to write incredibly inaccurate make-people-who-know-better-wince crap. ^.^;;; It'd be nice to have fiction out there that bears a resemblance to reality rather than "oh some author previously did X so it must be right" or "I don't really care if it can't happen, it's my story so it happens" like what you find nowadays.

XD zomg abd wound discussion would be awesome... all i know is 1) hypovolemic shock and 2) organ perforation but like, specific things? What? uhhh idunno. (wow, and my boards are coming up too, how sad)

And DUDE!!! I ♥ abdominal stab wounds. Or at least, now I do. I totally was so the antithesis of fond of them when I started. XD And there was a very odd phone conversation between my friend Julie and her mother that began with, "So, what happens if someone has an abdominal stab wound?" and FORGOTTEN HYPOTHETICALS~!!! XDDD Her mom totally thought someone was bleeding on the floor or what have you. XDDD ::still amused::

I don't know lots, but I do know that how bad the wound is depends on where you get stabbed. My character got stabbed in the upper left (anatomical left, if I'm doing this right) quadrant, which meant bleeding spleen and liver and such. He had a splenectomy, because apparently those things bleed like RIDICULOUS and it's just easier to ditch them than to try fixing it. Or so I've been told. ^.^ And then there's infection, 'cause yeah - non-sanitary environment + bleeding heavily + big gaping wound = infection.

And yeah, I get way to excited about this even now. XDDD

wow i'd be scared too if someone told me that "uhhh.... why are you asking?"

zomg your character is without a spleen! :( Did they address his liver or did they let it heal on its own, just wondering 'cause i'm nosy. XD But yeah it totally depends on where on the abd you hit so there are like a billion different things that could happen (okay, maybe it's like 10 but still that's a lot.). The body is a complex and wonderful thing.

He had part of his liver excised, if I recall correctly. ^.^;;; And yeah, the body is seriously complicated~!!!
