Anime Last Season, This Season
Oct. 7th, 2006 10:06 pmJust watched the last episode of xXxHolic. And... awww.... Watanuki!!! ::cuddles him:: I never thought that I would come to like his character as much as I have. He's adorable. That, and I love the interaction both between him and Doumeki and between him and Yuuko. All of them, just... awww!!! ::cuddles::
I already squee'd over Ouran, so I'll spare everyone a reprise. With the exception of Saiunkoko Monogotari, which I only got to episode 3 on before I stopped remembering to download it, and Nana, which I stopped paying much attention to after the never-ending flashback that went to episdoe 6, that's all I followed last season.
So... this season so far!
Deathnote ~ So far, they've got me. Seriously, seriously got me. Scared the freaking crap outta me, but definitely hooked me. Gosh, I'd forgotten how good that series can be! That, and I need to read the rest of the manga. I stopped after Chapter 59 because it... yeah. But I hear the ending was good, so I may make an attempt at it anyways.
D. Grayman ~ Dude,
lithele was totally right to be looking forward to this. I'm not in love with it yet, but I like what I've seen so far. This is also another one that has managed to scare the crap outta me already. Their villain character? Seriously freaking scary!!!
Kanon ~ Meh. Not loving it. Will probably check out the second episode, but if it doesn't get good fast I'll be bailing on this series.
Pumpkin Scissors ~ Has potential. I'm curious as to just what the deal is with the ATT guy, and the protagonist is kinda fun. We'll see.
Yoake Mae Yori Ruriiro Na ~ I may watch this if only to have a series that doesn't scare the crap outta me this season. XDDD
On the whole: criminey, what happened to comedy? Maybe something comedic will be up in a bit (I don't research what's coming out, I just download a bunch of first episodes. ^.^;;;;) but I'm really not holding my breath.
And to make matters worse, I'm big on Supernatural right now. I blame
ladylore. Not surprising, but true. ^.^;;; At least that's got the comedy in it along with the scary. Case in point, the thing about clowns. I typed it out, but it wasn't funny without proper inflection, so watch the series if you don't know what I'm talking about. ^.^
... I'm going to go squee over Watanuki some more, and then get back to work on the next chapter of Horizon. It's like half done!!! ^______________^

Date: 2006-10-08 05:54 am (UTC)We were spoiled by Ouran. ;____;
There's only one or two things I haven't tried yet that I want to... Shounen Onmyouji sounds like fun, still haven't seen Code Geass (but the dude who looks like a grumpy Fye makes me want to right now!!), there's Bones' new one Ayakashi Ayashi... But, I don't see any hope for something as happy as Ouran. NOOO!!
Maybe I'll just have to watch Ouran or Kaleido Star or One Piece again or something to lighten up my semester. XD

Date: 2006-10-08 06:03 am (UTC)And yeah, we got totally spoiled! XDD
Yay, new Bones!!! ^_______^ Gosh, I ♥ them! ^___^
And probably. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but just... it's always nice to have a new comedy, where you don't already know the punchlines, you know? ;_; But yay for Ouran and Kaleido Star.

Date: 2006-10-08 06:27 am (UTC)New comedy...I am totally coming up empty. I mean, disregarding stupid harem shows or something. They just don't give us female fans much of a choice! ;__; My one hope was Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge (4 hot guys trying to play Mr.Higgins to reform misfit girl), but I heard the production values were AWFUL and after Ouran, my bar for shoujo comedy is much higher. DAMN YOU BONES FOR SPOILING ME! ...there are a few "for girls" harem shows, but they're just as insulting to my intelligence as the other type. XD;

Date: 2006-10-08 10:14 pm (UTC)... but yeah. The dearth of comedy is gonna kill. And doesn't Bones spoil you for everything? I mean, really ~ I can't think of anything Bones that I actively dislike, and most of their stuff seriously sets the bar for the rest of the anime I watch... XDD and ick @ the harem shows that insult your intelligence, even if that *is* all of them. XDD

Date: 2006-10-08 11:06 pm (UTC)Yeah Bones!! Some of their stuff is blah, but not actively bad--usually it's just not my genre. I think their latest actually falls under that category--I've never cared for anything set in historical Japan other than Rurouni Kenshin, soooo yeah. XD;
BUT! I did think of something that might work for comedy!! Ok, though technically it is a harem show...but a harem show is ok if 1) the male (or female, I suppose) lead is cool and interesting and 2) there is a interesting plot outside of the harem stuff. It's even better if the fanservice is removed!! In that case, "Negima!?" (not to be confused with "Negima!"--fans hated that adaption of the series so much that they're remaking it with a different studio) might win me over! =D It's about a 12 year old magician sent to teach magic at an all-girl's school (all the girls in his class dote on him because he's ADORABLE so there's his harem) who has a vampiress after him because his magician father defeated her or something. And in any case, Negima is ADORABLE. The manga version is pretty heavy on incidental fanservice, mostly of the pantyshot variety, but the 1st episode (I watched it raw) had pretty much nothing! No one's subbed it yet, but I'm sure someone will~~ But the main thing is the main guy is CUTE (too young to be hot) and there's a plot! So maybe there is hope! I've also heard "Black Blood Brothers" is worth a shot so maybe there's hope for lightheartedness after all??

Date: 2006-10-08 11:16 pm (UTC)Hmm... historical Japan? I agree, the only thing in that genre that I've ever really liked was RuroKen, but it's certainly worth trying, ne?
I'd heard of Negima!? but I didn't realize it was the same show as Negima! with a different adaptation. That's kinda funny, actually. And if they cared enough to try and remake it, they probably care enough to try and do it right the second time around (because damn it would be pathetic if they failed again!). I keep hearing about Black Blood Brothers, too ~ I think it's the title that's keeping me from checking it out. It just doesn't sound... okay, I haven't got a good adjective, but there's something off putting about it, you know? XDDD And I don't know if you spotted it yet or not, but the sub for Shounen Onmyouji is out. The torrent is impressively slow, but... at least it's there? ^.^;;;;

Date: 2006-10-08 11:30 pm (UTC)Yeah, Monster and Death Note are definitely...yeahh. Not what I'd watch over dinner. Ayakashi, guess I'll wait for a sub~ I hope it has some funny in it!!
I've never even heard of them just remaking a series before. I guess if the series is popular enough and the errors are horrible enough (animation was pretty bad)... Black Blood Brothers...it does sound really gothemotard doesn't it? XD;
There's so many series coming out this season, there has to be a good comedy in the mix somewhere!! *this weeks epic quest*

Date: 2006-10-09 12:03 am (UTC)Ayakashi ~ Well, keeping my fingers crossed, ne?
Me neither. Which is not to say that there aren't some they should try. (Tsubassa, for example. XD) Re: Black Blood Brothers: Yes, yes it does.
And yay! Thanks for the list!!! ^____^

Date: 2006-10-09 12:30 am (UTC)Tsubasa remake would be AWESOME! I wouldn't mind them judiciously cutting stuff from the manga either, like the Negima remake seems to be... Different voices for everyone except maybe Kurogane...better pacing...YEAH
Welcome! Useful reference~

Date: 2006-10-09 03:26 am (UTC)...wow, lots of hot guys in this show too~~ cute fluffy + cute guys + hot guys + action is a good formula in my book!

Date: 2006-10-09 11:51 pm (UTC)There's something somewhat wrong about how appealing fluffy things that turn into hot guys that turn into fluffy things are, but you'll not catch me complaining!!! ^___^
