Aishuu, Brightly Burning, at http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1387722/1/
Brightly Burning - In which Hikaru never wandered into a Go salon and happened to meet a boy named Akira. An extremely well-written and intriguing AU told from everyone but Hikaru's perspective.
Catwho, Fujiwara, at http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1261247/1/
Fujiwara - Things are going smoothly on a trip to a tournament in Kyoto right up until Hikaru suddenly finds himself in the Heian era. Though not in time to prevent Sai's death, there is certainly something to be said for vengeance...
Hitokiri-san, Treading on Safe Ground, at http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2988789/1/
Treading on Safe Ground - A different take on Hikaru's revealing to Akira the truth about Sai. It's told second-person, such that you are in Akira's mind as he tries to avoid saying anything to drive his rival away. I'm not big on second-person, but there's just something about this story that won't be denied.
Leitbur, The Neverending Road, at http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2914615/1/
The Neverending Road - In my not at all humble opinion, this is the best continuation of Hikago. Leitbur's style is smooth and easy to read, but what really blows me away is how much Leitbur knows about the game of go. Game scenes are a little over my head, but somehow that makes it more authentic to me. Very enjoyable, with a side story about Nase that shouldn't be missed.
Luce Red, archiving at http://www.fanfiction.net/u/668561/ and http://issen4.livejournal.com/
Notes: I have yet to read a fic by Luce Red that I didn't like. All of Luce's Hikago fic makes me squee and dissolve into a puddle of happiness, so much so that I'm not going to manage a better description of why. My faves are Next to Netgo and Shadows of a Voice, the latter of which can be found by looking through Sept./Oct. 2004 at Luce's lj. Difficult to access, but SO worth it!!! Also, In Vino Veritas, especially part 3, because Hikaru out drinking with Kuwabara is eight million different kinds of love. Yes.
Michelle, Ghost, at http://www.akane.org/michelle/ghost.txt and it's sequel That Which Watches from the Shadows at http://www.akane.org/michelle/shadows.txt
Ghost, etc. - Akira's attempts to understand one Shindou Hikaru cerca the time he passes the pro exam, followed by one of my favourite versions of the revelation sequence.
Murinae, Ishi no Shita and Your Hand in Mine at http://www.fanfiction.net/u/40347/
Ishi no Shita - Following the death of Hikaru's father, Hikaru and Touya-meijin play a game of go. It makes me cry every time I read it, but mainly because it's beautiful.
Your Hand in Mine - After a fire at his grandparents' house, Hikaru must deal with the loss of his last physical connection to Sai.
Mousapelli, Metonymy (The Ragin' Meijin Remix), at http://remix.illuminatedtext.com/dbfiction.php?fiction_id=375
Metonymy - Aside from being the best title EVER, Ragin' Meijin is quite appropriate - the fic is five different important Meijin matches in the life of Touya Akira. The ending is hysterical, to say the least. A must-read.
Rageprufrock, 19 (x19) Things That Never Happened, Pts. 1 & 2 at http://rageprufrock.livejournal.com/166884.html and http://rageprufrock.livejournal.com/167103.html
19 (x19) Things That Never Happened, Pts. 1 & 2 - Each chapter is a separate AU version of Hikago. The first is boy band AU, the second is girl!Hikaru. The former is beautiful if somewhat depressing, the latter is hysterical and good fun. Both are great reads.
Sinnatious, Caught in a Ladder, at http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3525207/1/
Caught in a Ladder - Hikaru's troubles grow by the minute after he lies to Ogata about his Netgo name. Set pre-Sai's disappearance.
SVZ Insanity, Grey Sky Morning, at http://community.livejournal.com/crack_lore/38452.html
Grey Sky Morning - On May 5th, Akira helps his flatmate prepare for a trip to Innoshima.
treneka, Grey, at http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2151667/1/
Grey - The trials and tribulations of Hikaru as he fumbles his way through a grown up's lifestyle. Mainly focused on the rivalry between Akira and Hikaru - it gets the balance between them precisely right.
