laneroseI totally suck at posting actual content! XD What can I say, it's been a busy month.
Things I've Been Enjoying:
Saiyuki ~ ::SQUEEEEEEEEEE:: Okay, so, I'd heard about this in passing about a bajillion times, and, (as with Prince of Tennis, Hikago, Deathnote, etc.) this month, I finally caved and read it. ZOMG, SO HAPPY!!! All right, well, not the manga. It's not actually a very happy story, is it, except in a way it kind of is, and I'm not explaining this well at all. Hm. For me, the series boils down to a great deal of squee over Sanzo, the Buddhist priest turned main character. He smokes, drinks, swears, carries a gun, has "Die" and "I'll kill you" listed as his favourite phrases, and is stuck somewhat unwillingly on a quest to save the world with three companions he threatens a lot (not that they're pushovers, but you know!). Sanzo's sort of an emotard, only in a completely freaking cool generally not willing to show he's angsting sort of way. Artwork for it is absolutely beautiful, which naturally doesn't hurt. The original Saiyuki, Saiyuki Reload, and Saiyuki Gaiden all rock, though I want more of the last two, damn it~!!! ;_;
Wild Adapter ~ Same author / artist as Saiyuki, and damned if this series isn't just as wonderful. Jeva, I ♥ you~!!! ^____^
Saiunkoku Monogatari ~ All right, so, this series has been my guilty pleasure for a while now. It's kind of a Chinese soap opera, in anime form. However, I now feel completely justified in recommending that everyone watch at least episode 29, because it demonstrates a truly remarkable use of swordmanship styles. Four of the principle male characters wield swords in this episode, and each is quite different from the next. Thinking back through the series, actually, it seems to me that every character has a unique fighting style. (When I put this in my head next to trying to write a fight between, say, Zack and Cloud, whose styles are incredibly similar, or the rest of the FF7 characters, who all just use different weapons, this makes a huge difference.) It was really cool to watch them, especially the reverse-grip overhand style Shuuei uses. ^_^;;;
Gundam Wing Fanfic ~ For whatever reason, I've been recced to some really enjoyable 1x2 fics lately. See my updated fic lists for related details. (And for that matter, go read Axiomatic by Jei~!!!)
Princess Tutu Fanfic ~ FINALLY have found some things worth reading in the fandom. I'll be making a list for those few soon. (Maybe a joint list with Kaleido Star, since both fandoms are tiny?) Meh.
Cosplay ~ Well, I said I would never make the staff for Aerith... so clearly, I'm making the staff for Aerith. XDDD Go figure. I'm also working on Mia, from Kaleido Star, Charles's Dr. Who, and Fakir for Lisa. ^_^;;;;;; It'll get done eventually.
And uh... yeah. Hope everyone else is doing well? Fic or other fan projects coming soon? Yeah. ^____^;;

Yes, the ikkou getting on people's nerves is hysterical. ^____^ I think what I like best about Saiyuki is that it balanced some true comedy gems with some very serious moments, and managed never to go too far in either direction that it seemed outside the scope of reality. ^_^
Volume 6 Spoilers in White~!!! ZOMG, GOKU~~~~~~!!!!!!!!! ::FLAILS:: And AHHHHH~~~~!!!!!!! ... Sorry, I just needed to say that, and no one else seems to understand why I am spasming and I am reluctant to go all spoiler. With the Wild Adapter thing, I should have something within the next day or two. So no worries, yeah. ^___^;;
Oh, well, then I have another fic to rec |D *shameless pimp, yo* Dead Again <--- 'nother Gaiden reincarnation fic, but more like we get to see them go through each of their different lives in the 500 years between they're being gods and the loveable, chaotic ikkou we know and love~ (hilarious read, I think you'll love the Kozen/Sanzo scenes XD;;)
And yes~ Minekura is a genius with balancing humor with seriousness. Personally, I love the bad puns throughout the story XD;;;
I'm actually a bit behind in the manga. I think I've got Reload volume 5... ? XD;;;
