Idle Question
Apr. 16th, 2006 02:25 pmHey y'all... so, there's context for this, but I'm not giving it to you at the moment. ^.~ What's the difference between heart and soul? Any thoughts?
Edit: Well, I put up the question at Yahoo!Answers, and aside from a few jaded / annoying replies, people had a few good thoughts.
What I seem to be getting is that the heart is transient, and the soul permanent - people think of the heart as something that can die, whereas the soul is immortal. The heart is emotions, but the soul is a more focused, inner sense of existence that goes beyond emotions. One interesting thing that got said is that the heart is decieving, but the soul is not. Someone else has said, "Have you ever felt positive energy within a group of people...? That's the common energy resonating with your energy/ spirit... " as well as "Now our soul a.k.a our mind contain every other thing that defines us...will, emotions and intellect...Now our soul makes use individuals, unique, interesting and marvellous..."
I'm a bit confused - some tie emotions to the heart and others tie them to the soul. Some think of the heart as the mind and others see the soul as the mind. Anyone lead toward one interpretation or another, and if so, why?
... and sorry, I realize this is heavy philosophy instead of fic or fun, but it's for fic in a loose kind-of sort-of way. ^.^;;;
