This is ridiculous
Nov. 6th, 2005 01:33 amI think it's fair to say Black Cat's my new obsession. I've rewatched the series twice tonight alone, have compulsively checked every available website for more of the manga (anything past chapter 162) or more of the anime (anything past 4). When that didn't work I went looking for fanfiction, but since the series is so new there is (unsurprisingly) none available. It's just... Gah!!! TRAIN!!!! That's totally what it is!!! ::resolves to blame him and his beautiful beautiful angst::
... so for anyone on my f-list who isn't watching it yet, here's the deal with the anime. (The manga is a completely different kettle of fish - even having read most of it (and it *is* finished) I'm still certain the anime will surprise me.)
Train Heartnet works as an eraser (assassin) for an organization called Chronos. Animeverse, Chronos has yet to be explained, so for now let's just say that they're big and morally ambiguous. Train in angst mode is hotter than Roy Mustang by so much it's barely worth comparing. ::nodnodnod:: But I digress... He is essentially alone in life, a hardened killer with few joys, known for his destructive abilities. All of Chronos' top erasers are numbered, each bearing a tattoo in Roman numerals on themselves and the same mark on their weapon. Train is XIII. He is said to "bring bad luck" to his targets by crossing their paths, and has earned himself the nickname "Black Cat". Things start to change, though, when he meets Saya, a sweeper who lives nearby...
Sweepers, by the way, are bounty hunters, for lack of a better term. In general, they do not believe in killing their targets - if only because they get more money for bringing them in alive.
Sven Vollfied is also a sweeper, though he and Saya are of no discernable acquitance. He's committed himself to living as a gentleman. Because he only goes after the toughest criminals, he often finds himself going hungry. Life for him becomes much more interesting, though, when he runs into a certain dark colored feline while attempting to sweep a target.
...
and basically, it just rocks my socks. It'll rock yours, too, trust me. Now I'm going to bed. ::nodnod::
