"Fanwank"? Thanks. ^^;;;; I've since been thinking about it, though, and decided that even with an idea of what will be in the next episode, the how of it all is likely to still make "Who" really fascinating, so I've wound up excited for it again anyway. It interesting, too, because with any other author I'd assume that the plotlines would be dropped, and be disappointed about it. Yeah, double standard! XDDD /fail

Whether or not Moffat is concerned with continuity - at least, 10's continuity - is something that I'm pretty sure we won't have to worry about because -

SPECULATION / SPOILER WARNING

- I think RTD is about to de-canonize his canon. I watched season 4 a bit out of order, which is probably why I remembered Fires of Pompei so clearly while watching Turn Left and the Stolen Earth, but there's this one scene with two oracles in it, yeah? (::copy/pastes dialogue below::)

Auger: Doctor, she is returning.

Doctor: Who is, who's she?

Auger: And you, daughter of London - there is something on your back.

Donna: What's happening?

Soothsayer: Even the word Doctor is false. Your real name is hidden. It burns in the stars, in the Cascade of Medusa herself.

And well, I'm pretty sure you know where I'm thinking we're headed with that.

My biggest question is how much of his canon he's going to break. I think it'll probably drop at some point where Rose was present in one of the other universes, so my current guesses are the beginning of season 4 (maybe Donna dropping instead of managing to hang on to that wire in Partners in Crime?), or the beginning of season 3 (re: Turn Left Donna somehow drowning during Runaway Bride or just choosing to go with the Doctor in RB). After thinking about it, I realized the latter also explained how Rose could have no idea who Martha was but know about Donna and Jack still being alive - no idea which way it'll tilt for sure, and maybe the possibilities are wrong in the first place, but it'll be interesting.

I've also had a pet theory since Forests of the Dead that the Doctor didn't know his own name until River told it to him - that he'd forgotten it or what have you - and that the only way he could have told it to her was if the Time Lords somehow came back, which is why he was so surprised. Given the no longer time-locked Time War and the oracle at Pompei's words (Medusa Cascade ftw), I'm thinking there will also be some returning Time Lord action next episode. Incidentally, if Martha's never a companion, then the Master never dies, and given the rate at which Who likes to reuse villains, that does make a certain level of sense.

I had heard about Calufrax, actually, and there's theory running around about Donna as the Key of Time - - not sure I really buy into it, but could be. The Doctor mentioned something about the arrangement being like an engine, so I've been figuring Daleks after a power source. ::shrug:: Seems like something they'd do, either to take control of the universe or open the void and retrieve the other Daleks, etc., but I'm convinced beyond the telling that they will ultimately fail because using a deus ex machina and then having the bad guys win anyway is just lame (though unexpected!) beyond the telling, so I haven't worried about it in much detail.

... I think I'm going to repost this comment as an actual post, because now that I've typed it all up I kinda want to hear the f-list's opinions on it. XDDD /fail Sorry to babble at you~!!!
