Well...this may disappoint you....mainland China probably isn't the best place to find manga, because the Chinese government has censorship up there. This means any publications that have violence or *any* kind of sexual hints to it are banned. In particular, the government blocks a LOT of manga because it thinks it has a negative influence on society. So even *if* you find a place that sells manga, don't expect it to be like Hong Kong or Japan.
My best friend lived in Beijing for a year, and being the anime lover she is, was unable to find any manga.
The only exception I've seen to anime is in Shanghai, when there was this anime convention held during summer. But that's about it.
